Digital Wayfinding Signage for
Universities & Libraries
TTSS has been chosen by several
universities and colleges to provide digital directory and wayfinding
systems for buildings within their campuses. While each one of these
systems is unique to the individual school, we have established
a methodology that ensures successful implementations no matter
what information is being delivered within these applications.
TTSS offers two primary products for the university market; interactive
and non-interactive digital signs. Let's explore the non-interactive
signage capabilities first.
The Annunciator product allows colleges and universities to control
content on small and large screen LCD systems throughout the campus.
Typically, a school will install several large (32 to 57 inch) LCD
screens in lobby and gathering areas and may also mount digital
room signs (15 to 19 inch) near the entrances to classrooms and
conference rooms. The content for these signs is controlled centrally
across a LAN or WAN and can take many forms. Many schools use the
large LCDs to show announcements, including upcoming events and
emergency notifications. Other types of content can include live
TV, video clips, web links and PowerPoint presentations.

The flexibility of the
system allows single point control of all digital signs from one
master console. In other words, the content control for all digital
signs, whether large lobby monitors or small digital room signs
is controlled from a single point anywhere along the university
network. This allows immediate updating of all signs and is especially
important in emergency circumstances such as fires and crowd control
situations.
Our SelfInform Digital Directory product uses touchscreen kiosks
to deliver content and wayfinding information to students and visitors.
These systems have the potential to deliver classroom, event, meeting
information, and staff locations and also display maps with dynamic
paths and text directions to guide the visitor to a destination.
These systems are specifically tailored to each school and are designed
to reflect the branding and styles of the college.
